Throughout our 120 year history, we have relied on volunteers to help carry out the mission of Children’s Home Society & Family Services. Volunteers play a crucial role in our work to give every child security, opportunity, permanency, and a loving family.
Last year more than 630 people donated nearly 17,000 hours to support our programs. They volunteered at cultural events and fundraisers; cared for infants and toddlers; facilitated educational workshops; mentored adopted youth; traveled abroad for international service trips; performed internships; provided administrative support at our agency offices; and so much more.
Whether you’re looking for a one-time or ongoing opportunity, as an individual or with a group, we’ll work with your interests, strengths and schedule to create a meaningful volunteer experience. CHSFS will provide all the tools and training you’ll need to get started. In no time, you’ll be helping children and families thrive in our community!

The Volunteer Application Process
Once you complete an application, our volunteer services staff will contact you for an interview. This introductory meeting will give you a chance to learn more about CHSFS and tell us about the type of volunteer opportunity you’re looking for.
CHSFS strives to uphold the highest ethical standards to protect our clients, and we expect volunteers to do the same. Therefore, a background check is required for those volunteers seeking placements where direct client contact is involved.
