Waiting Children

Through waiting children programs Children’s Home Society & Family Services seeks homes for children with histories of abuse and neglect, older children, siblings, and children with medical conditions and special needs. Adopting and parenting a waiting child with special needs is a lifelong experience that can be richly and uniquely rewarding.

CHSFS has two distinct programs for waiting children: Minnesota’s Waiting Children places children from the Minnesota foster care system with families living in Minnesota, and Waiting International Children (WIC) places children from many different countries into homes in Minnesota, Maryland, Virginia, D.C. and across the U.S.

As the term implies, the children in this program are currently waiting for loving families to adopt them. We prefer not to keep them waiting any longer than necessary. The process for waiting children is equally as thorough as any adoption. However, depending on where your family is in the adoption journey, process steps may vary, in each child’s best interest.
