Students need support to succeed in school and life. Our Community Programming for Youth provides support for students both academically and emotionally. Many factors contribute to school success. Community Programming for Youth helps to eliminate barriers children and youth face, allowing academic goals to be achieved.

Diversion and Restitution

90% of youth completing the Diversion/Restitution Program did not have any further contact with the police, based on a six-month follow-up survey.

First-time offenders of misdemeanor crimes participate in our program with their parent(s) or caregiver(s). The program focuses on learning from past mistakes, taking responsibility for their actions and moving forward in life as active citizens.

Core aspects of the Diversion and Restitution Program are aimed at creating stronger youth and preventing negative outcomes. Key components include:

  • Individual counseling for youth who have been diverted from the courts, along with group instruction with parent(s) or caregiver(s)
  • Principles of Restorative Justice as a key to the success of the program
  • Classes that address vandalism, theft, fire-starting, anger management, chemical use and decision-making
  • The impact of actions and attitudes on others
