Parent Support Services' Most Frequently Asked Questions
Are you part of welfare or county services?

Children's Home Society & Family Services is a private agency and not a part of any county or welfare services.

Will you tell anyone?

Our service is confidential and we respect your right to privacy. We will not inform anyone about you or your child without your written permission except when a child or adult is in danger.

Who Uses the Parent Support Services?
Some of the most common reasons that parents seek services include a parent's mental-health crisis, family violence, medical need of a family member, chemical dependency, dissolution of the family unit, child behavior problems, and housing problems.

Data from program evaluations indicate that parents have four priority considerations when deciding to use our services: The guarantee of confidentiality; trust they would receive encouragement rather than judgement; prompt access; and understanding that we are not connected to "county" or "welfare" services.

What happens if the child has been maltreated?
If  a child is found to have been abused or neglected, a report will be made to the child-protection unit. This will be discussed with the parent, who will be encouraged to accept this as a referral for help rather than punishment.
