Home is where the heart is.

Our 2006-2007 Annual Report

Children’s Home Society & Family Services has a very big heart that touches many homes here and around the world. Our heart reaches out with compassion to heal broken, frightened and shattered hearts—globally, and at the same time, in an intensely personal way.

As you review the statistics from the past fiscal year, bear in mind the daily relevance of our work. CHSFS is having a positive impact on the well-being of a child, and another child—a thousand times over. Today, 430 staff members in the U.S. and an international team of hundreds of others support CHSFS’ mission and share our heartfelt compassion for children.

On behalf of all of us, thank you for compassionately sharing your time, talent and resources to help us advance our vital mission.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PAST YEAR

  • The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute awarded the Angel in Adoption Award to Hyun Sook Han, who spent 28 years at CHSFS, playing a key role in the adoptions of more than 13,000 children from Korea and other countries. Since her retirement, Mrs. Han has served on our Board of Directors and continues to advocate for children who do not have families.
  • CHSFS was the first agency in the United States to be reaccredited by Moscow’s Ministry of Education

and Science to facilitate adoptions in Russia.
  • Our Early Learning Center at Saint Paul College celebrated its 20th anniversary. This innovative program allows young parents to complete their education and achieve employment, while allowing students to carry out their education and nursing practicums at the Early Learning Center.
  • Onsite child care, which was provided by CHSFS, was one of the benefits cited by Working Mother magazine in naming General Mills one of its Top Ten Best Companies. Carlson Co., which also provides the benefit of CHSFS child care, was named in the Top 100 six times in the past seven years.
