| April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and Children’s Home Society & Family Services empowers parents in your community to ask for help to keep their children safe by offering programs that strengthen parenting and life skills.
“We see asking for help as a sign of strength,” says Madonna King, president and CEO of Children’s Home Society & Family Services. “Our advocates are here to offer support when life’s daily struggles become a barrier for positive parenting.”
Research shows that when parents have a place to turn in challenging times, their children are more likely to get the care and attention they need. Our Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention programs (an expansion of Crisis Nursery) operate in seven Minnesota counties--Anoka, Chisago, Dakota, Isanti, Ramsey and Wright--and offer a continuum of confidential services, including 24-hour parent-support phone counseling, day and overnight respite care, in-home support visits, family care plans, parent support networking and befriender/mentor programs.
Child abuse is 100 percent preventable, and community support is a large part of the solution. Volunteers are needed to help children stay safe when a parent is overwhelmed. Contact Volunteer Services at 651-646-7771 to learn how you can help prevent child abuse. |
