Planning a Company Picnic is No Picnic

Children’s Home Society & Family Services Offers a Creative Solution to a Nagging Business Problem

ST. PAUL, Minn. April 25, 2007 - As the summer months approach, many companies are faced with the daunting task of planning a company picnic or client-appreciation event. Company management is wondering, “What overworked employee is going to get assigned this project? Is it the office manager, the sales assistant, the human resources generalist, who? Is it already too late to reserve a venue? Why didn’t we think of this earlier?”

  • Imagine what a relief it would be to find a venue with a built-in scenic backdrop of country charm and unique sport spectacle, children’s games and other entertainment. How many to do's would you relieve someone in your office of if such a place existed?
  • Imagine the personal attention you could show your clients and employees by inviting them and their families to enjoy a lovely day in the country.
  • Imagine being able to network with employees from other companies and media outlets in a relaxing, casual environment.
  • Imagine your investment in employee or client relations doing double duty as an investment in a charitable organization that helps children locally, nationally and internationally.

A creative solution to planning a company’s well-intended, but oft-overwhelming summer tradition is a corporate tent package at Children’s Home Society & Family Services’ Polo Classic Sunday, presented by Target on August 5, 2007 in Maple Plain. Polo Classic Sunday is a one-of-a-kind family event featuring a professional polo match, an amateur exhibition match, a horse parade and many family activities. Polo Classic Sunday’s professional event team takes care of many of the details that would normally fall to a company employee.

For 13 years, Minneapolis-based iq Marketing has leveraged a tent package to create a unique and highly anticipated summer tradition for their employees, vendors and clients, with everyone’s families welcome too. Each year iq Marketing picks a theme and surprise guests with a beautifully decorated tent, a fun interactive activity and great food. The environment attracts guests from other tents and maximizes networking opportunities.

“At iq we have a long history of giving back to our community. We are always delighted to be a part of the Polo Classic Sunday. It is one of the most fun and rewarding ways to spend a summer afternoon with friends, family and clients while at the same time, helping children and their families,” says Jan Finken iq’s president.
