Volunteering and Donating to Parent Support Services

Volunteers & Community Involvement:

Community involvement is a vital component of the CHSFS Parent Support Services. Each year the contributions of community members increase in creative and innovative ways in order to best meet the needs of the families we serve.

In an effort to include community input on service delivery, Parent Support staff participate in local community coalitions and regularly seek input from a variety of stakeholders. Only through change in the family and home environment can the pattern of child maltreatment be broken. It is our hope that, with the support of the community, we can provide prevention services to each family and provide comfort and nurturing care to each child we serve.

Volunteer roles may vary by site, but most often include: providing overnight shelter care for up to 72 hours at a time, assisting with office or clothing duties and offering assistance with fund raising and outreach activities.

In addition to giving time, community members also contribute to the mission of Crisis Nurseries by giving money and basic needs items to the programs. The Parent Support Services could not operate without these contributions of money, time and donated items from concerned, community members. Their contributions make the services provided by Parent Support Services possible and allow community members the opportunity to make a direct contribution to supporting families and keeping all children safe.
