Child Development Specialist/Family Advocate

We currently have an opportunity for a Child Development Specialist/Family Advocate at our Whittier Early Learning Center.

The Child Development Specialist/Family Advocate is an integral part of the Whittier Team.  This position is dedicated to directing the educational portion of the children's program, directing child assessment, monitoring developmental gains, service coordination, planning activities that engage parents in their child's development and that support the development of parenting skills.  In addition, this position will support families by making appropriate referrals to other services within the Agency and/or other human service agencies as needed.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in early Childhood or related field and 3 to 4 years of related work experience, preferably in a licensed Early Learning Center setting.  Successful candidates must demonstrate the ability to:

  • Communicate effectively with people
  • Work independently and as a team member
  • Contribute a high level of enthusiasm and interest in children and families from diverse backgrounds
  • Support staff with program curriculum
  • Focus on detail and organization, including collecting and maintaining data
