Summer Youth Program Internship
Internship located at Cedar Riverside Plaza in Minneapolis. The preferred time committment is May or June through August, 8-32 hours per week. Responsibilities include: opportunity to plan and implement activities for youth such as sports, science, art & theater; opportunity to plan & supervise service learning projects for youth; opportunity to facilitate Second Step violence prevention curriculum, including admistration of pre and post testing; opportunity to co-facilitate American Red Cross Babysitter's Training curriculum; opportunity to plan & facilitate a Family Night event; opportunity to assist staff in supervision of youth on a variety of field trips; opportunity to attend CHSFS annual staff development days in August; comply with all program policies and procedures of Children's Home Society & Family Services; respect and maintain confidentiality at all times. Qualifications: Junior or Senior level student enrolled in education, psychology, social work, or related field; interest or experience in working with youth (ages 12-15); ability to work as a team member and to accept responsibility; ability to act independently and to seek consultation when needed; respect and understanding of youth and families from diverse backgrounds; interest or experience in facilitating educational classes and training sessions; strong communication and organizational skills; safe driving record & access to own transportation.
