At Children's Home Society, Adoption is finding families for children.
Children’s Home has developed a unique competency in finding families for “waiting children” thanks in part to our 30 years of work finding permanent families for children living in foster care. In Minnesota and around the globe, “waiting children” are now often boys, older or part of a sibling group. They may have special health or developmental needs that range from minor or correctable concerns to severe conditions that require lifelong care. We are becoming experts in uniting today’s waiting children with nurturing families. In the process, Children’s Home has built a strong reputation among our partner countries and agencies, as well as with families seeking to adopt. Children’s Home is working to promote awareness of the needs of waiting children; encourage openness by prospective adoptive parents to children with a range of needs; and prepare families for a broad spectrum of children who are waiting for loving, permanent homes. Championing the adoption of waiting children is a practice that we believe best aligns with our expertise, acknowledges the current realities of adoption, and holds the most opportunities for families.
