Working together, we empower families to overcome stress and crises to become strong and healthy.

Children’s Home Society & Family Services has a long history of working to prevent child abuse and neglect. Over the years we have modified our programs to incorporate best practices in the field and respond to the changing needs of our clients.

Currently, the primary service we offer to parents at risk of abusing or neglecting their children is in-home case management or home visiting services, following the model recommended by the State of Minnesota Department of Human Services.  We receive referrals from child protection workers in Hennepin, Ramsey, Chisago and Anoka Counties for these services. The parents who receive this service have multiple risk factors, including domestic violence, mental illness, chemical dependency, poverty, or other significant stressors.

Working with partner organizations in the community and county agencies, Children's Home is reaching more families in need. We are proud to share these collaborative efforts:

Maryland Park Apartments

An example of this type of client-driven programming includes the Maryland Park Apartments Program in Ramsey County. This new program offers groups, on-site, for tenants of this new affordable housing complex. Maryland Park staff and CHSFS staff are working together to create a resource center for families.

Strong & Peaceful Families

Learn more about Strong & Peaceful Families -- a collaborative effort through the Joint Domestic Abuse Prosecution Unit, St. Paul - Ramsey County Department of Public Health, and CHSFS. It provides outreach, in-home case management, education, supportive services and referrals to community-based services for Ramsey County families who have experienced domestic violence.

Circle of Parents

The Circle of Parents is prevention program that was offered by CHSFS in 2010.  This parent-driven support group is based on a national curriculum; parent groups and children’s groups operate simultaneously. The program has the goal of fostering strong social connections for parents and, given our expertise in the field, CHSFS incorporates a strong children’s mental health component into the program model.
