Uniting children with permanent, loving, nurturing families ready to care for their unique needs.

Through waiting children programs Children’s Home Society & Family Services seeks adoptive families for older children, siblings, children with histories of abuse and neglect, and children with medical conditions and special needs. Adopting and parenting a waiting child with special needs is a lifelong experience that can be richly and uniquely rewarding.

As the term implies, the children in this program are currently waiting for loving families to adopt them. We prefer not to keep them waiting any longer than necessary. The process for waiting children is equally as thorough as any adoption. However, depending on where your family is in the adoption journey, process steps may vary, in each child’s best interest.

Waiting International Children

The Waiting International Children (WIC) program aims to place waiting children from many different countries into homes throughout the United States. At this time, CHSFS is actively seeking families for children who are waiting in from China, Colombia, Ecuador, Ethiopia, India, Korea, Peru, Russia, and Taiwan.

Minnesota's Waiting Children

The Minnesota's Waiting Children (MWC) program aims to place children who are in the Minnesota foster care system with families living in Minnesota.  Brief profiles for a small number of children for whom CHSFS is actively seeking families can be viewed online.
