There is no “typical” child in need.
As independently licensed agencies, Children's Home and Lutheran Social Service have adoption programs in the following countries. You can quickly compare all of our programs with this chart. In addition, you can read the information on the below country pages and contact us to take the next step!
About Our Programs
Through our traditional programs, we strive to place children who do not have an identified special need or have an identified need that may be routinely addressed in the U.S. with predictable approaches and successful outcomes.
For situations in which birth families cannot stay intact and children cannot have their needs met by birth relatives, we believe that children should first be placed with a family in their own country and culture. Our Colombia, India and Korea Heritage Programs are one way in which we advocate for that outcome.
Our Waiting Identified Children (WIC) program was developed to help us find families for the children who tend to wait the longest for permanent families: older children, sibling groups, children with identified medical or developmental concerns, and children who have experienced abuse and neglect. Children placed through this program may come from any of the countries listed above. Countries tend to be more flexible in their requirements for children waiting in our WIC program.
