Update: Child 210-18JH

Reymann

This year our family celebrated the 11th Adoption Day of our son, Alex, and the 9th Adoption Day of our daughter, Kira. Our adoption experiences still seem like yesterday—maybe because of our annual Adoption Day celebrations when we watch the videos and read our children’s scrapbooks documenting our trips to meet them and bring them home. But our story is also kept alive through the annual CHSFS Adoption Camp our children attend, the annual Russian New Year Party, and the many friends we’ve made who have also created families through adoption.

We chose CHSFS because of the multitude of adoption programs offered and their Post-Adoption Services. When choosing our agency, we wanted to make sure we had support throughout the entire adoption and post-adoption process, and CHSFS was the only agency we found that offered post-adoption support.

Our two adoption experiences, separated by two years, were very different. Our first adoption went fast and only required one ten-day trip to Russia. For our second adoption, we decided to stay with the Russia program because we wanted our kids to both come from the same region and country. We started the paperwork for our second adoption within a year of adopting Alex. This adoption would require two trips to Russia, and ultimately it took several months longer to bring Kira home.

Because of our annual rituals and celebrations, the adoption process seems like yesterday, but in many respects it seems long, long ago. Alex and Kira seem to have been a part of our family forever and we look back and can’t imagine creating our family any other way. We encourage everyone to consider adoption as a wonderful way to grow your family.
