Our daughter, Jenny, has always been curious and eager to learn. But, as the school year progressed, we noticed that she was struggling more with her school work and began to say “I can’t do this. It’s too hard.” It broke our hearts. We were worried and didn’t really know what to do. After speaking with a friend, she suggested that we reach out to Children’s Home Society & Family Services. We met with a learning disabilities specialist and found ways we could advocate for Jenny with the school, what types of information to gather and she pointed us in the right direction to get an evaluation completed. We have worked out an individualized education plan with her school. As parents, we are extremely grateful to Children’s Home Society & Family Services for helping us help Jenny. Our worries have been replaced with hope. She no longer dreads her school work, or worries about getting teased by other kids. Jenny has gained confidence and feels better about herself – our curious and eager learner has returned! – Todd & Suzanne, CHSFS Learning Disabilities program clients |
