At any given moment there are hundreds of children and youth in Minnesota who need adoptive homes.
Minnesota’s Waiting Children often have significant special needs due to abuse or neglect during their critical developmental years. These conditions often result in emotional and behavioral issues, developmental delays or medical conditions.
We strive to identify and support families for older children with special needs who are under state guardianship.

Working together, helping you
Children’s Home Society & Family Services and Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota work in partnership with families statewide to find permanency for Minnesota's Waiting Children. We educate and support families who have adopted children under state guardianship. Together, we provide a broad array of complementary adoption services that unite our strengths, our common values, and our shared commitment to serving children and families.
Most costs to clients adopting a child under state guardianship are covered by a grant from the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
